Warnings and Precautions when using Virovir Tablets (Generic Famvir)

Acute renal failure cases have been reported in patients with underlying renal disease who have received inappropriately high doses of Virovir for their level of renal function. Dosage reduction is recommended when administering Virovir to patients with renal impairment.



Virovir Tablets (Generic Famvir) - Contraindications

Virovir Tablets is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Famciclovir, its inactive components, or Denavir.


Virovir Tablets (Generic Famvir) - Dosage

Below are the recommended Dosage recommendation in Immunocompetent Adult Patients
Herpes labialis (cold sores):
The recommended dosage of FAMVIR for the treatment of recurrent herpes labialis is 1500 mg as a single dose. Therapy should be initiated at the first sign or symptom of herpes labialis (e.g., tingling, itching, burning, pain, or lesion).
Genital herpes:
Recurrent episodes: The recommended dosage of FAMVIR for the treatment of recurrent episodes of genital herpes is 1000 mg twice daily for 1 day. Therapy should be initiated at the first sign or symptom of a recurrent episode (e.g., tingling, itching, burning, pain, or lesion).
Suppressive therapy: The recommended dosage of FAMVIR for chronic suppressive therapy of recurrent episodes of genital herpes is 250 mg twice daily.
Herpes zoster (shingles):
The recommended dosage of FAMVIR for the treatment of herpes zoster is 500 mg every 8 hours for 7 days. Therapy should be initiated as soon as herpes zoster is diagnosed.


Side Effects Of Virovir Tablets (Famciclovir)

The most common side effects of Virovir Tablets (Famciclovir) are headache and nausea. Less common side effects that may occur are Paresthesia, Migraine, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Flatulence, Abdominal Pain, Fatigue, Pruritus, Rash and Dysmenorrhea.

Zovirax manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), India is an effective treatment for chickenpox (varicella) or shingles (herpes zoster) and treating or suppressing genital herpes infections. Zovirax Tablets (Acyclovir) - Uses

Acyclovir in the form of Zovirax Tablets is used to treat Herpes Zoster Infections (shingles), for the treatment of initial episodes and the management of recurrent episodes of genital herpes, treatment of chickenpox (varicella).



Zovirax Tablets - Contraindications

Zovirax is contraindicated in patients that have a hypersensitivity to acyclovir or valacyclovir. Dosage adjustment is recommended when administering Zovirax tablets to patients with renal impairment.
Caution should also be exercised when administering Zovirax to patients receiving potentially nephrotoxic agents since this may increase the risk of renal dysfunction and/or the risk of reversible central nervous system symptoms


Zovirax Tablets - Preparations

Zovirax Tablets is available as tablets of 200 mg, 400 mg and 800 mg. Each 200 mg tablet of Zovirax contains 200 mg of acyclovir and the inactive ingredients magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, and sodium starch glycolate.

Zovirax Tablets - Symptoms Of Overdosage

The Adverse effects due to that have been reported in association with overdosage due to ingestion of up to 100 capsules (20 g)include agitation, coma, seizures, and lethargy. In the event of acute renal failure and anuria, the patient may benefit from hemodialysis until renal function is restored.


Zovirax Tablets - Dosage

Acute Treatment of Herpes Zoster:
800 mg every 4 hours orally, 5 times daily for 7 to 10 days.
Genital Herpes:
Treatment of Initial Genital Herpes:
200 mg every 4 hours, 5 times daily for 10 days.
Chronic Suppressive Therapy for Recurrent Disease:
400 mg 2 times daily for up to 12 months, followed by re-evaluation. Alternative regimens have included doses ranging from 200 mg 3 times daily to 200 mg 5 times daily. The frequency and severity of episodes of untreated genital herpes may change over time. After 1 year of therapy, the frequency and severity of the patient’s genital herpes infection should be reevaluated to assess the need for continuation of therapy with Zovirax.
Intermittent Therapy:
200 mg every 4 hours, 5 times daily for 5 days. Therapy should be initiated at the earliest sign or symptom (prodrome) of recurrence.
Treatment of Chickenpox:
Children (2 years of age and older):
20 mg/kg per dose orally 4 times daily (80 mg/kg/day) for 5 days. Children over 40 kg should receive the adult dose for chickenpox.
Adults and Children over 40 kg:
800 mg 4 times daily for 5 days. Intravenous Zovirax is indicated for the treatment of varicella-zoster infections in immunocompromised patients. When therapy is indicated, it should be initiated at the earliest sign or symptom of chickenpox.

The most common side effects of Zovirax Tablets are were nausea,vomiting, diarrhea, headache and malaise.

Azee Tablets (Generic Zithromax) - Dosage

Below is given the recommended adult dosage to treat various indications:
Mild to moderate lower respiratory tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections and uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections:
Adults Dosage:500 mg as a single dose on the first day followed by 250 mg once daily on days 2 to 5 for a total dose of 1.5 g or 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
Sexually transmitted diseases:
– Gonorrhoea: 2 gm as a stat dose
– Chancroid: 1 gm as a stat dose
– Non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis due to C. trachomatis –1 gm as a stat dose
– Syphilis: 1 gm o.d. for 5 days or 500 mg o.d. for 10 days.
Malaria:
– Prophylaxis: 500 mg on first day followed by 250 mg/day for 7 days.
– Treatment: 1000-1500 mg once daily for 3 days with usual doses of chloroquine.
Acne:
250-500 mg on 3 consecutive days in a week for 12 weeks.


Azee Tablets - Contraindications

Azee is contraindicated in patients which are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any other macrolide or ketolide antibiotics.


Side Effects Of Azee Tablets (Generic Zithromax)

The most common side effects of Azee tablets are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Rarely occuring side effects are Palpitations, chest pain, Dyspepsia, flatulence, vomiting, melena and cholestatic jaundice, Monilia, vaginitis and nephritis, Dizziness, headache, vertigo and somnolence, Fatigue, Rash, pruritus, photosensitivity and angioedema.
