Generic Zithromax in the form of Azee Tablets is used to treat Upper respiratory tract infections (including ear, nose and throat infections), Lower respiratory tract infections, Genitourinary tract infections (including sexually transmitted diseases), Skin and skin structure infections, Prophylaxis and treatment of malaria, Treatment of acne, Treatment of chlamydial conjunctivitis.


Azee Tablets (Generic Zithromax) - Preparations

Azee is available as tablets of 250 mg, 500 mg and 1000 mg. Each tablet contains Azithromycin Dihydrate equivalent to Azithromycin (anhydrous) USP 250 mg, 500 mg and 1000 mg respectively.

Azee manufactured by Cipla Ltd., India is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections like upper and lower genitourinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections(including ear, nose and throat infections), skin and skin structure infections. Zithromax which has the active ingredient Azithromycin is also sold as Azithromycin 3 Day Dose Pack, Azithromycin 5 Day Dose Pack, Zithromax, Zithromax TRI-PAK, Zithromax Z-Pak, Zmax and under various other brand names.

Azee Tablets (Generic Zithromax) - Dosage

Below is given the recommended adult dosage to treat various indications:
Mild to moderate lower respiratory tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections and uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections:
Adults Dosage:500 mg as a single dose on the first day followed by 250 mg once daily on days 2 to 5 for a total dose of 1.5 g or 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
Sexually transmitted diseases:
– Gonorrhoea: 2 gm as a stat dose
– Chancroid: 1 gm as a stat dose
– Non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis due to C. trachomatis –1 gm as a stat dose
– Syphilis: 1 gm o.d. for 5 days or 500 mg o.d. for 10 days.
Malaria:
– Prophylaxis: 500 mg on first day followed by 250 mg/day for 7 days.
– Treatment: 1000-1500 mg once daily for 3 days with usual doses of chloroquine.
Acne:
250-500 mg on 3 consecutive days in a week for 12 weeks.


Azee Tablets - Contraindications

Azee is contraindicated in patients which are allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any other macrolide or ketolide antibiotics.


Side Effects Of Azee Tablets (Generic Zithromax)

The most common side effects of Azee tablets are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain. Rarely occuring side effects are Palpitations, chest pain, Dyspepsia, flatulence, vomiting, melena and cholestatic jaundice, Monilia, vaginitis and nephritis, Dizziness, headache, vertigo and somnolence, Fatigue, Rash, pruritus, photosensitivity and angioedema.

Neotrexate Tablets (Generic Rheumatrex)- Dosage

Choriocarcinoma and similar trophoblastic diseases:
Neotrexate Tablets (Methotrexate) is administered orally in doses of 15 to 30 mg daily for a five-day course. Such courses are usually repeated for 3 to 5 times as required, with rest periods of one or more weeks interposed between courses, until any manifesting toxic symptoms subside.
Psoriasis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
The Recommended Starting Dosage schedules for Neotrexate Tablets (Generic Rheumatrex) to treat Adult Rheumatoid Arthritisis is
1. Single oral doses of 7.5 mg once weekly.
2. Divided oral dosages of 2.5 mg at 12 hour intervals for 3 doses given as a course once weekly.
The Recommended Starting Dosage schedules for Polyarticular-Course Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis:
The recommended starting dose is 10 mg/m2 given once weekly.


Neotrexate Tablets (Generic RMethotrexate) - Contraindications


Neotrexate Tablets (Methotrexate) is contraindicated in pregnant women with psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis and should be used in the treatment of neoplastic diseases only when the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.
Pregnancy should be avoided if either partner is receiving methotrexate; during and for a minimum of three months after therapy for male patients, and during and for at least one ovulatory cycle after therapy for female patients. Patients with psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis with alcoholism, alcoholic liver disease or other chronic liver disease should not receive methotrexate. Patients with psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis who have overt or laboratory evidence of immunodeficiency syndromes should not receive methotrexate.
Patients with psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis who have preexisting blood dyscrasias, such as bone marrow hypoplasia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia or significant anemia, should not receive methotrexate.
Since Neotrexate has the potential for serious adverse reactions from methotrexate in breast fed infants, it is contraindicated in nursing mothers.
Patients with a known hypersensitivity to methotrexate or any inactive ingredient present in Neotrexate should not be administered the drug.


Side Effects Of Neotrexate Tablets (Generic Rheumatrex)

The most frequently occurring side effects of Neotrexate Tablets include ulcerative stomatitis, leukopenia, nausea, and abdominal distress. Other frequently reported side effects are malaise, undue fatigue, chills and fever, dizziness and decreased resistance to infection.

Clomiphene Citrate - Uses

Clomiphene Citrate in the form of Fertomid Tablets is used for induction of ovulation in patients with persistent ovulatory dysfunction who desire pregnancy. Fertomid can be used to make an irregularly ovulating woman ovulate regularly.
Fertomid is useful in the treatment of oligomenorrhoea, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, amenorrhoea, post pill menorrhoea, Stein Leventhal syndrome (polycystic ovarian diseases), and Chiari Frommel syndrome.

Contraindications Of Fertomid Tablets

Fertomid Tablets - Dosage

For the treatment of Female infertility One tablet of Fertomid 50 mg is to be administered daily for five days starting on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. If ovulation does not appear to have occurred, a second course of two tablets of Fertomid 50 mg daily (in a single dose) for five days should be administered starting from the fifth day of the next cycle.


Side Effects Of Fertomid Tablets

The most common side effects of Fertomid Tablets (Clomiphene Citrate) are Ovarian Enlargement, Vasomotor Flushes, Abdominal-Pelvic Discomfort/Distention/Bloating, Nausea and Vomiting, Breast Discomfort, Blurred vision, lights, floaters, waves, unspecified visual complaints, photophobia, diplopia, scotomata, phosphenes, Headache, Abnormal Uterine Bleeding, Intermenstrual spotting, menorrhagia.
