Finpecia Tablets - Active Ingredient And Chemical structure

The active ingredient contained in Finpecia Tablets is Finasteride. Finasteride is a white crystalline powder with a melting point near 250°C. It is freely soluble in chloroform and in lower alcohol solvents but is practically insoluble in water. The structure is shown below

Finpecia manufactured by Cipla Ltd., India is an effective treatment for male pattern hair loss. Generic Propecia which has the active ingredient Finasteride is also sold as Finast, Propecia, Proscar, Finara, Finalo, Prosteride, Gefina, Appecia, Finax, Fincar and under various other brand names.


Finpecia - Preparations

Finpecia manufactured by Cipla is available as film-coated tablets that contain 1 mg of Finasteride for oral administration.


Finpecia Tablets - Storage Requirements

Finpecia Tablets are to be stored at room temperature (15°C to 30°C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light.


Finpecia Tablets - Uses

Generic Propecia in the form of Finpecia Tablets is used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). Safety and efficacy were demonstrated in men between 18 to 41 years of age with mild to moderate hair loss of the vertex and anterior mid-scalp area.


Finpecia Tablets - Dosage

The recommended dosage of Cipla Finpecia is 1 mg tablet orally once a day. Finpecia may be administered with or without meals.Daily use for three months or more is necessary before benefit is observed. Continued use is recommended to sustain benefit (i.e. Hair growth and prevention of hair loss). Withdrawal of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 12 months.


Side Effects Of Finpecia Tablets

The most common side effects of Finpecia Tablets are Decreased Libido, Erectile Dysfunction, Ejaculation Disorder(Decreased Volume of Ejaculate), Impotence, hypersensitivity reactions, Breast Enlargement, Breast Tenderness, Rash, Pruritus, Urticaria, Swelling of the lips and face and Testicular pain.
