Terbicip Tablets (Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) - Active Ingredient And Chemical structure

The active ingredient present in Terbicip Tablets (Generic Lamisil Tablets) is Terbinafine Hydrochloride. Terbinafine hydrochloride is a white to off-white fine crystalline powder that is freely soluble in methanol and methylene chloride, soluble in ethanol and slightly soluble in water. Terbicip Tablets (Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) is to be stored at room temperature (15°C to 30°C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light.The medicine is to be kept out of reach of children and pets.


Terbicip Tablets (Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) - Uses

Terbinafine Hydrochloride in the form of Terbicip Tablets is used to treat Fungal infections of the skin, including the treatment of tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and yeast infections of the skin caused by the genus Candida (e.g., Candida albicans) where oral therapy is generally considered appropriate, owing to the site, severity or extent of the infection. Terbicip is also used to treat infections caused by Tinea capitis as well as to treat Onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nails) caused by dermatophyte fungi.


Terbicip Tablets (Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) - Dosage

Terbicip tablets are not to be administered to children below 2 years of age. For Children weighing 20Kg to 40 kg: half tablet of Terbicip 250 (125mg) once a day while in case of Children weighing more than 40 kg: one tablet of Terbicip 250 once a day. For adults the dosage is One tablet of Terbicip 250 mg once a day. The duration of treatment varies according to the indication and the severity of the infection.
Recommended duration of treatment For Skin Infections:
Tinea pedis (interdigital, plantar/moccasin type): 2 to 6 weeks.
Tinea corporis/cruris: 2 to 4 weeks
Cutaneous candidiasis: 2 to 4 weeks
Recommended duration of treatment For Hair and Scalp Infections:
Tinea capitis (Occurs mainly in Children): 4 weeks
Onychomycosis:
Fingernail onychomycosis:6 weeks of treatment is usually sufficient for fingernail infections in most cases.
Toenail onychomycosis: 12 weeks of treatment is usually sufficient for toenail infections in most cases.
Continue the treatment for the prescribed period since irregular use or premature discontinuation of the treatment carries the risk of recurrence.


Side Effects Of Terbicip Tablets (Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets)

The most common side effects of are Gastrointestinal symptoms (feeling of fullness, loss of appetite, dyspepsia, nausea, mild abdominal pain, diarrhoea), non-serious forms of skin reaction (rash, urticaria), Taste disturbances, including taste loss, musculoskeletal reactions (arthralgia, myalgia). Side effects that may occur rarely are Hepatobiliary dysfunction, Serious skin reactions,and anaphylactoid reactions. If progressive skin rash occurs, Terbicip treatment should be discontinued.
